Yet, when she is not exactly expecting it her mom gets cancer. OH NO, what does she do? Her plan to maximize fun, avoid disaster, and (possibly) save the world, it just might work. The story is about a kid named Billy and these two hound dogs named Little Ann and Old Dan. Billy likes to hunt raccoons, squirrels and rabbits. Billy wants to enter a hunting contest with his dogs. It was a raccoon hunting contest–did they win? At the end of the story, Little Ann and Old Dan die of old age, which was sad. Since the dogs liked each other so much, the love between the two dogs grew a red fern. And that is why the book is called Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls.
